Whats the best remedy for to reduce or stop snoring ?
Snoring is a mild obstruction of the upper airway which is caused by the vibration of tissue against airflow. It can happen for a variety of reasons. Sometimes people have small airways to start with so it doesn’t take much tissue to partially obstruct the airway and produce snoring. Sometimes it can be that the person has large tonsils that need to be removed. And most commonly it’s related to excessive weight.
Loud snoring can be a sign of sleep apnea which is a potentially serious disorder which should be properly evaluated in a sleep disorders center. Quick fixes like “breathe right” strips or throat lubricants do little as a long term solution and just end up making the problem worse since it fails to address the cause of the snoring. Have the snoring evaluated at a sleep lab and they will find out what is causing it and suggest a treatment for it.
